In my life, I have always been interested in art. Different forms, different styles, different artists...I love paintings by Monet and sculptures by my past art teacher, Mr. Connor. I was intrigued by the African Art class I took years ago while pursuing my degree. I find just about any art form interesting. Currently I enjoy viewing my children's artwork. My two older sons are both wonderful artists, each drawing in their own style for years...even as young as 2 or 3! I actually would almost find it a shame if neither one of them pursued a career in some sort of art background.
All forms of art are unique in their own way. The spash of color in a watercolor, the "blobs" somehow bringing to life a scene of interest; the exact and fine line of a pencil sketch, showing each detail; the whimsical array of shape, position and color in an abstract, leaving a lot to the imagination...so much of art reminds me of God's most wonderful creation...people. No two people are ever entirely the same...we are unique, even twins are not "clones" of each other. Each has their own interests, dreams, talents... All of us are "penned" and "fashioned" by God to be the exact representation of His desire. He poured into each of us skills, interests, likes that He chose for us to find on our own...and those gifts make each of us a living work of art.
So the next time you find yourself comparing yourself to someone else, remember what I tell my own kids...I wouldn't ever want you to be like another...God chose to make you exactly like YOU are....and it's our responsibility to shine like living works of art...and live an art of life.
